How to use trail donation pipes

Big Creek Donation Pipe

You may have seen our newest feature at Big Creek Park. No, it is not an impossible log climb, jump, or other such fun TTF (technical trail feature), it’s a donation pipe. Look to your left while at the main upper trailhead kiosk. The new RAMBO Big Creek donation pipe looks a lot like others positioned at MTB trailheads everywhere there is a volunteer group scrounging for funds to maintain trails and promote a healthy lifestyle choice.

Ours is this hulking green tube looking more like a missile silo with a cylindrical head sporting security locks. A menacing looking upper lip on its side hides a slot not much bigger than the width of folding cash. This is where we are to slip in a buck or 2 every time we ride. Or, pay it forward or backward with a larger denomination every few rides. 100% of the funds collected from the RAMBO donation pipe go directly to RAMBO trail building and advocacy efforts.

Sure, it’s an inconvenience to stop when you’re all geared up and ready to charge down our local trails. But think for a moment about the man hours and equipment it takes to make sure trails are clear, puddles drained, fallen trees cut, debris removed, features maintained, new trails added; in addition to programs to encourage local riding are managed. All of this is done by 100% volunteer efforts.

It’s deductible, too. Think of your future donation as helping to ensure your local trail system is the best it can be for you, your friends and loved ones, and future generations of trail riders. Feed the cause, PLEASE, feed our pipe! Thank you!
