BIG CREEK TT-12 SUMMER Time Trials Scheduled

BIG CREEK TT-12 SUMMER Time Trial series have been scheduled for this Summer: Wednesdays: June 13th*; July 11th*; Aug 8th* What else you got goin’ on Wednesday evenings this Summer? Get a goal. Get in shape. Stay in shape. Race the clock to log your best Big Creek XC lap times. Race against yourself, Win your category, Win the Series, PRIZES! You can have it ALL!
Where: At Roswell Big Creek Park.

Come early. Registration is on-site the evening of each race. First riders start at 6 PM. Finish time, last racer out at 8pm. Best 2 out of 3 races for series prizes. Trails will be closed to non-time trial participants during the event.

Encouraged donation is $10 per night, or all 3 for $25. IMBA/SORBA membership is required.

Prizes will be awarded in these Categories:

MEN’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place: 34 and under; 35 and older
WOMEN’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd Places: 34 and under; 35 and older
SINGLE SPEED – MEN’s 1st Place
SINGLE SPEED – WOMEN’s 1st Place
Junior – 17 & under – 1st, 2nd, 3rd Places

Charleston Park Work Party – Saturday, May 19th, 9am to 1pm

Work Party at Charleston Park in Forsyth County on Saturday, May 19th from 9am to 1pm. We will clear the new trail of down trees. Please bring chainsaws, loppers and backpack leaf blowers. Lunch will be provided. Wear closed toed shoes and bring work gloves. Take GA 400 to Exit 17, turn right on 306 for 1 mile, at 2nd light turn right on 369, drive 1.5 miles, turn right onto Charleston Park Rd, go to parking lot at boat ramp.

RAMBO decided to work with Primal Cycling Apparel because of their quality products and selection. We went with a Loose Fit jersey vs. the Club Fit or Racer Fit as it is a little more relaxed cut than the other two. The Loose Fit Urban jersey is a hybrid cycling garment that crosses into lifestyle apparel without losing any technical characteristics. Comfortable on or off the bike, this jersey features a half length zipper, zippered rear pocket, and tagless neck label. The fabric is SpeedPro which is 100% polyester. It is a plaited double knit fabric with a micro yarn on the face and a higher denier filament yarn on the back. Double knit fabric has a push pull effect, pulling moisture from the back and pushing it off the face. 2-way mechanical stretch

Sizing is pretty true to what you already wear. So if you wear a medium in a t-shirt you should be able to wear a medium in the new RAMBO jersey.

From Atlanta take GA 400 North towards Dahlonega. 400 becomes US 19. Take US 19 to Dahlonega. Take GA 52 West in Dahlonega. Turn right at Grizzle’s store (broken sign actually says ‘zle’s Store”) onto Nimblewill Church Rd. Turn right on FS 28 at Nimblewill Baptist. Go 0.4 miles. Turn left onto FS 83. 1.8 miles to trailhead.

This month’s RAMBO chapter meeting will be held at the trailhead at Big Creek this Thursday, May 10th, starting at 7pm. Plan to ride early, then join us to get an update on all things going on with RAMBO. We will probably order some pizza’s and have the new chapter jerseys onhand for pickup or purchase. Bring your bike and a chair.

Volunteer Rewards Program – pick up 2011 rewards now

2011 RAMBO Volunteer Rewards can be picked up at RAMBO chapter meetings and work parties. The RAMBO Volunteer Rewards Program has been a great success since 2009 in acknowledging the volunteers who have worked steadfastly to: build and maintain trails, work RAMBO events like the Big Creek Time Trials, Fall Family Festival, organized rides, Bike Patrol, and all those donating time, skills and supporting role efforts throughout the year.

Volunteers accumulating 20 work hours will receive a custom design dry-wicking T-shirt with RAMBO logo and volunteer graphic. 40 hour volunteers are rewarded with a jacket with embroidered RAMBO logo. For added encouragement, consider giving a thumbs up to RAMBO volunteers you spot wearing the RAMBO Volunteer T-shirts and jackets.

How will you earn your RAMBO volunteer award hours? Simple. Whenever you see an event post, use any of our contact mechanisms or email rambo-bod@googlegroups.com to inquire about how you can help. If you volunteer for a RAMBO task, make sure your hours are counted by our volunteer organizer.
